This is your resource page for all things “NATS” and your local chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, uniting professional voice teachers (and their students) from Greater Victoria and Vancouver Island.
NATS Victoria Chapter is a not-for-profit group carrying the activities and providing the same opportunities offered by the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Victoria Chapter members must offer the same level of quality teaching advocated in the association’s mission statement, provide a safe and comfortable teaching environment and abide by the same Code of Ethics.
Most of our teachers are located in the Greater Victoria area, with some located up-island in the Cowichan and Comox Valley.
As part of the NATS Northwestern Region, our teachers have the opportunity to exchange ideas and share their passion for singing with other teachers from British-Columbia, Yukon, Washington and Oregon States; they can take part in adjudications, workshops and our Northwestern Regional Conference every other year. Some of our teachers also attend the National Conference.
The mandate of the chapter is to provide professional development and networking opportunities for all classical and CCM (Contemporary Commercial Music) teachers of singing, along with events & workshops for both local teachers and their students.
The Victoria Chapter has hosted workshops with voice pedagogues and specialists Elizabeth Howard, Cynthia McGladrey, Nancy Bos, Robert Edwin, Erin Guinup and L.A. celebrity coach Lisa Popeil.
